Takeda Parts Forecasting and Kitting

Project Scope

A Global Fortune 500 life science organization desired to streamline their Cambridge, MA site CMMS parts ordering process allowing managers to level set periodic ordering costs. Lean Biologix developed and implemented an integrated PM parts forecasting and kitting application which allowed material planners to understand critical parts required for scheduled work. It also allowed materials management to identify and print labels for kitting parts. This included all IT lifecycle documents required for producing a validated GMP system. Responsibilities ranged from risk assessment and initial requirements development to complete validation testing packages for multiple sites. Lean Biologix was also responsible for management of all change control and documentation activities.

Summary of Engagement

The project’s results demonstrated the value of the Lean Biologix CMMS and warehouse management expertise. The result was an application which effectively allowed management to identify critical parts which needed to be ordered and identify potential out of stock emergencies. The kitting application allowed warehouse management to quickly produce work order kits which help minimize changeover, labor, and downtime costs.
